SIR – Social Activities for Men (formerly known at Sons In Retirement) is a non-profit, public benefit corporation. The mission of SIR is to enrich the lives of our members through fun activities, luncheons and other events while making Friends for Life. Membership is open to men regardless of age, race, color or religion. Spouses, partners, and friends are welcome to participate in most activities. We are an all-volunteer organization, so our members are encouraged to help out when called upon. SIR supports no outside causes or interests. We prohibit discussions of politics and, religion, and soliciting or selling anything to any our members.
Having fun is our goal! SIR has over 100 Branches with more than 12,500 members throughout northern California from Bakersfield to the Oregon border and Lake Tahoe to the Pacific.

We meet on the First Wednesday of the month at the Moose Family Center, 20921 Longeway Rd in Sonora. Get additional information in the “Bulletins” and “Lunch Schedule” links above. Our Ladies Day Picnic in August is in lieu of the luncheon, and in December we add a Christmas Party that also includes ladies. Luncheons include social interactions, good food, and an interesting guest speaker.
Biking, horseshoes, kayak, golf, and pinochle are a few of our numerous activities. We encourage our members to be as active as possible. SIR members can participate in any activity of any of the local branches (there are four – see Area 5 Combined Activities above).
