MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Meeting Date: December 3, 2007 Place: Papa’s New Roost

Big Sir Roy Sweeney opened the meeting at 7:55 AM, and reminded those in attendance that December’s luncheon will be on Wednesday, rather than Thursday. Secretary Dan Mohn reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report). The minutes of the October 29, 2007 BEC meeting were approved as sent to all Officers and Directors by electronic media. (Pfoutz/Smith).

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Assistant Treasurer Rich Robinson Brandau reported a beginning balance of $6550.69 and an ending balance of $8758.84 for the month of November. The major expenditures were: Printing and Supplies - $69.61; and Postage - $61.50. Assistant Treasurer Brandau reported that 133 Sirs have made their $20 voluntary contribution for 2008. The report was approved. (Feaster/Smith).

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported 23 Sirs had called that they would not be attending Wednesday’s luncheon. Assistant Attendance Chairman Bill Bamford reported that 6 guests would be attending.

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership Chairman Lee Piercey reported that Sir Ed Cabral had passed away. Robin Bowes and Jim Floyd submitted new member applications. Chairman Piercey moved, seconded by Sir Richard Robinson, that these gentlemen be approved for membership, pending positions becoming available. The membership stands at 150 active, 5 inactive and 20 waiting for membership.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

LUNCHEON: Sir Jim McCracken will inform the Elks Lodge to set places for 125 Sirs and guests, plus the head table, for Wednesday’s luncheon.

PROGRAM: Little Sir Don Denhard reported that the program speaker for Wednesday’s luncheon meeting will be Betsy Hardin, Director of the Tuolumne County Habitat for Humanity. Next month’s program will be presented by Debbie Fahl and her drug sniffing dog.

COMPUTER USER’S GROUP: Sir Dick Chimenti, chairman for 2008, reported that he will be working on a program for January or February.

WEB PAGE: Sir Don Denhard reported that our web page is current.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP: Sir Ray Pfoutz reported that he is working on a program for January.

GOLF: Sir Gil Wesson reported that the season will start in April.

BULLETIN: Sir Ed Nissen stated that Tthe deadline for December’s bulletin items is December 10.

PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that the meeting notice was published in both the Union Democrat and the Sierra Mountain Times.

TRAVEL: Sir Earl Nelson reported that 26 Sirs and guests will be going to the Rose Parade and 18 Sirs and guests had signed up for the European Riverboat tour. Sir Nelson is planning to have a short travel outing for May.

RV: Sir Earl Nelson reported that 46 SIR RV’rs and guests attended a great Christmas Dinner Party at Birdie’s Mountain Springs.

THEATER: Sir Ralph Bushnell, Theater Chairman for 2008, is planning the "Play and Dinner" program for the 2008 season and has increased the number of tickets from 51 to 61.

HIKING: Sir Jerry Jensen requested approval for an easy hike along the Tuolumne Ditch from Ponderosa Hills south and return, about 2.2 miles total, on December 11. Carpooling will be from Eproson Park in Twain Harte. If it rains that day, the hike will be rescheduled to another date. Approved (Pfoutz/Feaster).

MOVIE: Sir Ralph Bushnell requested approval for a "Lunch and a Movie" for December, the movie and the date will be determined after a review of the movies at the Sonora Movie Theater. (Smith/Brandau).

FELLOWSHIP: Sir Carl Nunes reported that Sir Rolan Sloan had suffered a heart attack. An appropriate card will be sent.

OLD BUSINESS

Big Sir Sweeney reviewed the final Christmas Dinner Party plans. All items are in order. Ticket sales will continue at the December luncheon meeting. The cost is $25 per person. Sir Joe Smith is selling the tickets.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 AM.

The next BEC meeting will be at Papa’s New Roost on Monday, December 31 at 8:00 AM.
