MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Meeting Date: October 29, 2007 Place: Papa’s New Roost

Big Sir Roy Sweeney opened the meeting at 7:55 AM and welcomed Sir Harold Granados to the meeting. After self-introductions, Secretary Dan Mohn reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report). The minutes of the October 1, 2007 BEC meeting were approved as sent to all Officers and Directors by electronic media. (Pfoutz/Smith).

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Assistant Treasurer Rich Robinson Brandau reported a beginning balance of $2692.42 and an ending balance of $6550.69 for the month of October. The major expenditures were: Printing and Supplies - $109.19; and Postage - $74.20. Assistant Treasurer Brandau reported that 96 Sirs have made their $20 voluntary contribution for 2008. The report was approved. (Denhard/Beltran).

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported 16 Sirs had called that they would not be attending Thursday’s luncheon. Assistant Attendance Chairman Bill Bamford reported that 5 guests would be attending.

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership Chairman Lee Piercey reported that he had no changes in membership status during the month. Eighteen men are on the waiting list for membership.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

LUNCHEON: Sir Henry Beltran will inform the Elks Lodge to set places for 130 Sirs and guests for Thursday’s luncheon. Sir Beltran met with the Elks’ Chef and worked out the meeting dates and luncheon menus for next year.

PROGRAM: Little Sir Don Denhard reported that the program speaker for Thursday’s luncheon meeting will be Elzie Gerrels, who will talk about "Manned Space Exploration". Next month’s speaker will be Betsy Hardin, Director of the Tuolumne County Habitat for Humanity.

COMPUTER USER’S GROUP: Sir Ray Pfoutz reported that the joint meeting with the Digital Photography Group held October 18, 2007, at the China House in Twain Harte to discuss Picasa and Photoshop Elements computer photo programsapplications had 18 Sirs in attendance. No programs have been planned for November or December.

WEB PAGE: Sir Don Denhard reported that membership information on the Web is in both Excel and HTML formats so that most people can access the information with one program or the other.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP: See Computer User’s Group.

GOLF: Sir Gil Wesson reported that the season is over for the year.

BULLETIN: Sir Ed Nissen stated that Tthe deadline for November bulletin items is November 7.

PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that he had submitted meeting notices to both the Union Democrat and the Sierra Mountain Times, but could not confirm that notices were published in either newspaper.

TRAVEL: No Report

RV: Sir Harvey Uhl reported that the last trip of the year, to St. George, Utah, was a very good trip. The RV group has had its planning meeting and will be submitting its trip agenda to the BEC for approval in December. The RV group Christmas Party will be November 27 at Mountain Springs Club House.

THEATER: The last play of the season, White Christmas on November 28th, is sold out.

HIKING: Sir Jerry Jensen requested re-approval for a hike to Cleo’s Bath starting at Pinecrest Lake, on November 6, carpooling from Eproson Park in Twain Harte. If it rains that day, the hike will be rescheduled to another date. Approved (Pfoutz/Smith).

MOVIE: The BEC moved and approved a "Lunch and a Movie" for November, the movie and the date will be determined after a review of the movies at the Sonora Movie Theater. (Brandau/Pfoutz).

FELLOWSHIP: No Report.

OLD BUSINESS

Big Sir Sweeney reviewed the Christmas Dinner Party plans with Sir Henry Beltran. All items are in order. Ticket sales will continue at the November luncheon meeting. The cost will be $25 per person. Sir Joe Smith will take ticket orders by email or snail mail.

New Business

Big Sir Sweeney reminded everyone that the December luncheon will be on Wednesday, December 5th.

The next BEC meeting will be at Papa’s New Roost on Monday, December 3 at 8:00 AM.
