TREASURER'S REPORT: Assistant Treasurer Bob Wright reported a beginning cash balance of $4055.65 and an ending cash balance of $3457.73 for the month of May. The major expense for the month was $101.94 for printing and supplies. Assistant Treasurer Wright reported that the $525 disbursement, line 407, was for prepayment of the Baseball trip, and will be reimbursed. Assistant Treasurer Wright further reported that all but 1 of the membership have made their $20 donation for the year. The Treasurer’s Report was approved (Holton/Johnson).

ATTENDANCE: Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported that he has had no response from Sir Dale Miller, to whom he had sent a nonattendance letter followed up by phone calls, and recommends that Sir. Miller’s membership be terminated. Sir Spierling reported that in response to nonattendance letters, the following Sirs called him to explain their special circumstances and requested to stay on active status: Jim Dearborn, Rex Heinlein, and Roy Sergent. Discussion ensued. Following the discussion the BEC took the following action: 1) Terminated the membership of Sir Dale Miller; 2) Extended the membership of Sirs Jim Dearborn, Rex Heinlein and Roy Sergent and requested Sir Spierling to report back to the BEC if absences continue. Approved (Piercey/Wellwood).

Thirty Sirs have called, to date, that they would not be attending Thursday’s meeting.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership Chairman Lee Piercey requested approval for the following actions: 1) Accept the resignations of Sirs Al Bolander and Stephen Derkum;

2) Approve Dennis Heppner for membership pending a position becoming available. Approved (Johnson/Smith). The membership now stands at 150 active, 3 inactive and 3 on hold. Sir Piercey reported that Ted Scruggs, Elmer Miller and Ronald Hummann, each of whom has been waiting for a membership to become available, would be inducted at Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

LUNCHEON: Sir Don Wooldridge reported that there was a dispute in the head count by the Golf Club and the Branch’s record of the number of lunches last served. The Branch recorded 112 paid Sirs and guests, and 3 guests of the Branch, while the restaurant claimed and charged for 120 meals. Discussion ensued regarding how to resolve a discrepancy in the future. The Branch feels that it has an accurate method of ensuring that everyone who eats has paid. In addition, the menu for Thursday’s luncheon is going to be Hamburgers, Hotdogs and Baked Beans. Big Sir Feaster and Sir Wooldridge will meet with the restaurant management and resolve the headcount problem and voice the Branch’s displeasure on charging $12 for a Hamburger or Hotdog and some beans, especially since we were previously charged $12 for out of the can Chili Beans last January.

PROGRAM: Big Sir Feaster reported that the program for Thursday would be a discussion on better health by Dr. John Sousa and Dr. Michael Currie, both of Class 5 Fitness.

Big Sir Feaster will send a letter to the Golf Chairman regarding this recommendation.
