MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

Meeting Date: December 1, 2008                                        Place: Papa’s New Roost

 

Big Sir Don Denhard opened the meeting at 8:00AM.  Assistant Secretary Dick Feaster reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report). The minutes of the November BEC meeting were approved based on the Email review (Nissen, Pfoutz).

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Assistant treasurer Richard Robinson reported a beginning balance of $ 4,121.18      and an ending balance of $ 7,197.21    for the month of November.. The report was approved (Nissen, Pfoutz).

 

ATTENDANCE:

Sir Herb Spierling reported that so far 23 members have called in to advise they would not be attending next Thursday’s luncheon meeting. Sir Bill Bamford reported that he is expecting seven visitors – including the speaker- at the meeting.

 

MEMBERSHIP:

Sir Ralph Legg reported that Don Watkins has asked to be moved to inactive status.

This will permit us to induct one new member at the next meeting his name is Bill Bryant, sponsored by Ron Clark.

 

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

LUNCHEON:

Sir Henry Beltran reported that we expect 125 for lunch on Thursday. The menu is Swiss steak, potatoes, peas, green salad and bread pudding.

 

PROGRAM:

Little Sir Ed Nissen reported that our speaker at the next meeting will be Judy Watson from the former Abbot Apple Ranch in Cedar Ridge now Cedar Ridge Apple Ranch..

 

COMPUTER USER’S GROUP:

BULLETIN:  Sir Stu Heller reported that the deadline for inputs into the next bulletin is December 7, 2008.

 

PUBLICITY:   Sir Gil Wesson reported that announcements were posted in the Sonora paper and the Sierra Mt. Times.

 

TRAVEL:   No report

 

RV:  No report

 

MOVIE: Sir Ray Pfoutz will host the movie group for December. It will probably be Valkyrie. He requested approval for the event. Approved (Nissen, Bamford).

 

THEATER:  Sir Ray Pfoutz is hosting the December play.

 

HIKING:  Sir Jerry Jensen requested approval for a hike on December 11th. It will be up the railroad grade from Confidence Road to Lyons Lake. Approved (Nissen, Desrosiers).

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Sir Henry Beltran reported that all is ready for the Christmas party on December 16th. Jazz at 8 will be the entertainment and $500 has been approved for their performance.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Sir Don Denhard read a letter from SIR Headquarters which states that branches may not limit membership or have a waiting list. After some discussion, it was decided that a letter be written to our area governor requesting a waiver for Branch 172 due to our plan to return to the Twain Harte Golf course when conditions improve there. Dick Feaster was asked to draft the letter. Sir Denhard will forward the letter to Norm Whitsed when it is approved by Sir Nissen and himself.

 

Because of schedule conflicts, the December Sir meeting will NOT be held on Thursday but on Wednesday, December 3rd. Also, the January meeting will be held on THE SECOND THURSDAY, January 8th due to the holiday calendar. Both changes will be highlighted in the next bulletins.
