MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

 

          Meeting Date: November 30, 2009                                                  Place: Papa's New Roost

 

Big Sir Ed Nissen opened the meeting at 7:58 AM.  Asst. Secretary Dick Feaster reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report).  The minutes of the November 1, 2009 meeting were approved as electronically sent to all Officers and Directors. (Bamford/Honeychurch). 

 

TREASURER'S REPORT:

Treasurer Rich Brandau reported a beginning balance of $5057.96 and an ending balance of $10,073.48 for the month of November. There was a large inflow of cash during the month for next year voluntary contributions ($2,300) and the Christmas party ($2,750).

The expenses for the month were printing, supplies and postage - $165; and, Answering Service - $8. The Treasurer’s Report was approved. (Vaca/Honeychurch).

 

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported that 14 Sirs have called that they would not be attending the luncheon meeting. Sir Bill Bamford reported that 11 guests will be attending.

 

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership Chairman Ralph Legg reported that he had received three new member applications: Bob Fisher with Dennis Honeychurch as sponsor; Bill Morrison with Harvey Uhl as sponsor and Ed Mintline with Paul Desrosiers as sponsor. The membership stands at 150 active and 5 inactive and 16 on the waiting list. The new applicants were approved for membership (Bamford/Nelson).

 

 

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

LUNCHEON: Sir Henry Beltran reported that all is set for Wednesday’s luncheon. Sir Beltran will request a setup for 125 including the head table.

 

PROGRAM: Wednesday’s program will be a presentation by John Rogers who will talk about his trip to Iwo Jima as pilot for President George Bush. January’s program will be presented by John Cavaiani, a local resident who is the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

 

COMPUTER USERS GROUP: No Report.

 

WEB PAGE: No Report.

 

GOLF: No Report

 

BULLETIN: Sir Stu Heller requested that all bulletin items be submitted to him by December 7th. All bulletins will be mailed this time. Electronic distribution will begin in January for those who elected to get it this way.

 

PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that both the Sierra Mountain Times and the Sonora Union Democrat published a notice of Wednesday’s Luncheon Meeting.

 

TRAVEL: Earl Nelson reported that only two people have signed up for “Disney on Ice” and this trip will probably be cancelled. However, 18 people have signed up for the trip to Canada next year.

 

RV: No report.

 

THEATER: Sir Ralph Bushnell reported that 76 people are signed up for the December play “Frank Sinatra, Christmas My Way”. Fifty six people have signed up for dinner following the play.

 

HIKING GROUP: No hike this month   

 

MOVIE: Sir Ray Pfoutz requested approval for a “Movie and Dinner” on December 1st. at the East Sonora Regal Entertainment Theater. Approved (Legg/Desrosiers).

 

FELLOWSHIP: Sir Larry Bertuccelli stated that Bob Wright’s wife had passed away. Graveside services will be at 11AM on December 19th with a memorial service at 1 PM the same date at the Sugar Pine Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He will be sending a sympathy card on behalf of our branch.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Plans are complete for the Christmas party to be held on December 15th. 150 tickets have been sold to date. They will also be available at the next meeting on Wednesday.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Little Sir Earl Nelson presented his proposed BEC and general meeting dates, attached. Approved (Legg/Brandau).

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 AM.

 

The next Executive Committee Meeting will be 8:00 AM, Monday, January 4, 2010 at Papa’s New Roost with breakfast starting at 7:00 AM. The monthly luncheons are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at the Sonora Elks’ Lodge.
