MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

          Meeting Date: August 4, 2008                                                  Place: Papa's New Roost

 

Big Sir Don Denhard opened the meeting at 8:00 AM. Secretary Dan Mohn reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report).  The minutes of the June 30, 2008 BEC were approved as electronically transmitted to each member of the BEC (Spierling/Bamford).

 

TREASURER'S REPORT:

 Treasurer Rich Brandau reported a beginning balance of $4192.35 and an ending balance of $3932.84 for the month of July. The major expenses for the month were:  printing and supplies - $76.06; postage $159.24; guest expenses - $24; State Board Pro Rata Assessment – $148.00; and other - $38.00 for a total of $445.30. The Treasurer’s Report was approved. (Nissen/Honeychurch).

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported that he had talked with Sirs John Snodgrass and Ted Thorn regarding their noncompliance with SIR Attendance Rule 110 (b). Each replied that they had had a heavy travel schedule during the past 12 months and that each would strive to improve his attendance record. The BEC concurred and requested Sir Spierling to continue monitoring the attendance of Sirs Snodgrass and Thorn and report to the BEC if their attendance did not improve.  

 

 MEMBERSHIP:

Membership Chairman Ralph Legg reported that the membership stands at 150 active, 3 inactive and 18 on hold.

 

           STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

LUNCHEON:  No Report, Thursday is the annual Ladies Day BBQ Picnic (See RV Report)

           

PROGRAM:  Little Sir Ed Nissen reported that September’s program will be presented by Bob Leslie who will discuss the noninvasive proton procedure for his successful treatment of prostate cancer.

 

COMPUTER USERS GROUP: No Report.

 

WEB PAGE: No Report

 

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP: No Report

 

GOLF: Play at Mace Meadows Tuesday, August 5.

 

BULLETIN: Sir Stu Heller reported that the deadline for the next bulletin is August 11. The September bulletin will be produced by Little Sir Ed Nissen in Sir Heller’s absence.

 

PUBLICITY: No Report.

 

TRAVEL: No Report

 

RV: Sir Harvey Uhl reported that all is in order for the Ladies Day BBQ Picnic at Rail Town State Historical Park on Thursday. Members of the RV group will start preparing the BBQ early Thursday morning.

 

          THEATER: The next play is South Pacific and SIR reserved seats are nearly sold out.

 

HIKING GROUP: Sir Jerry Jensen requested approval for a hike to Sword and Lost Lakes for Tuesday, August 19, 2008, carpool from the Twain Harte Market Parking Lot. Approved (Desrosiers/Beltran).

 

MOVIE:  In the absence of the group chairman, the BEC approved a movie for the month of August at the East Sonora Regal Entertainment Theater, at date to be determined. Approved (Robinson/Bamford).

 

FELLOWSHIP:  No Report.

 

           

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Big Sir Don Denhard reported that the committee was waiting to hear from the Twain Harte Golf Club Management regarding the proposal to return to the Club House for our monthly luncheon meetings. Big Sir Denhard will contact the Club manager to see if he has a proposal for the committee to consider.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 Big Sir Don Denhard appointed Sir Henry Beltran to be Chairman of the Christmas Party again. Sirs Dennis Honeychurch and Bill Bamford volunteered to serve on the committee. Sir Beltran reported that he has a few additional Sirs that he would like as well. Big Sir Denhard will secure the program. Several suggestions were made and Big Sir Denhard will check them out.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:31 AM.

 

The next Executive Committee Meeting will be 8:00 AM, Friday, August 29, 2008, at Papa’s New Roost with breakfast starting at 7:00 AM.
