Big Sir Ed Nissen opened the meeting at 7:57 AM, and welcomed Sir Fred Ray, along with Officers, Directors, and Committee Members to the meeting. Secretary Dan Mohn reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report). The minutes of the June 1, 2009 BEC meeting were approved as electronically transmitted to all Officers and Directors. (Vaca/Feaster).
TREASURER'S REPORT:
Treasurer Rich Brandau reported a beginning balance of $5178.83 and an ending balance of $5178.25 for June. The expenses for the month were printing, supplies and postage - $213; and, Answering Service - $8. The Treasurer’s Report was approved. (Nelson/Desrosiers).
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported that 15 Sirs have called that they would not be attending the luncheon meeting. Sir Bill Bamford reported that 6 guests will be attending.
Sir Spierling reported that the following Sirs were in noncompliance with Rule 100.b:
Bob Becker; Jerry Van Buskirk; Rex Heinlein; and George Brown.
Following a brief discussion Big Sir Nissen requested that Sir Spierling call each of these Sirs to determine if there was a special circumstance for nonattendance and their intentions for attending future meetings, and report his findings to the BEC at its August 3, 2009 meeting.
MEMBERSHIP:
Membership Chairman Ralph Legg reported that two applicants had withdrawn their applications for membership; one had joined Sonora Branch 136, and the other withdrew for personal reasons. There were no other changes in the membership. The membership remains at 150 active and 5 inactive.
Sir Legg requested authority to reprint 30 Branch New Member Brochures at an estimated cost of $30. Approved (Nelson/Bamford).
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
LUNCHEON: Sir Henry Beltran reported that all is set for Thursday’s luncheon. Sir Beltran will request a setup for 130 plus the head table. The luncheon will be a mixer, wherein one’s table partners for lunch will be the luck of the draw. Sir Dennis Honeychurch will assist with the setup for the mixer.
PROGRAM: Thursday’s program will be a presented by Kathy Kopyn, Area Director for Special Olympics. The August meeting will be a Ladies Day Picnic sponsored by the Branch RV Club.
COMPUTER USERS GROUP: No Report.
WEB PAGE: No Report.
GOLF: No Report
BULLETIN: Sir Stu Heller requested that all bulletin items be submitted to him by July 6.
PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that both the Sierra Mountain Times and the Sonora Union Democrat published a notice of Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting.
TRAVEL: Sir Jim McCracken reported that the Alaska Cruise and Travel was outstanding and gave great accolades to Travel Chairman/Little Sir Earl Nelson. Sir McCracken reported that the trip could not have been any better.
Little Sir Nelson reported that the majority of Sirs responding to his survey would like to travel to eastern Canada and Nova Scotia next year. Little Sir Nelson is also planning a Rose Bowl trip for the New Year 2010 and will poll the membership for interest.
RV: Sir Jim Nolan reported that the RV Club sponsored
“Ladies Day” picnic is all set for Thursday, August 6, at The Railtown State
Historical Park in
THEATER: Sir Rich Brandau commended Sir Herb Spierling for selecting the Union Hill Inn for the dinner location last month after the play; Sisters of Swing. The next play will be Smokey Joe’s Cafe followed by dinner at the East Sonora Conference Center on July 15. Seventy Sirs/Spouses/Guests will be attending the play and 50 of the play goers will attend the dinner, following. The August play will be Damn Yankees at the Fallon House Theater on August 26.
HIKING GROUP: Sir Jerry Jensen requested approval for
a hike on July 24, 2009 to Horse and
Cow Creek starting at the Coyote
Meadows Trail Head; car pooling from Eprosen Park in Twain Harte at 8:30 AM. Approved
(Feaster/Legg).
MOVIE: Sir Ray Pfoutz requested approval for a “Movie and Dinner” on a date to be determined at the East Sonora Regal Entertainment Theater and dinner at Perko’s Cafe. Approved (Robinson/Bamford). Sir Pfoutz reported that there was no movie worth seeing last month, but hopes that the pickings will be better this month.
FELLOWSHIP: No Report
OLD BUSINESS:
Sir Don Denhard, chairman of the nominating committee reported that his committee has a slate of Officers and Directors for 2010 that he will nominate at Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting. The nominees are:

Nominations for Officers and Directors will also be taken from the floor prior to the election.
NEW BUSINESS:
Big Sir Ed Nissen reported that Area Governor Norm Whitsed will address our membership at Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting regarding forming a new Branch for the Tuolumne/Jamestown/Columbia area.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 AM.
The
next Executive Committee Meeting will be 8:00 AM, Monday, August 3, 2009 at
Papa’s New Roost with breakfast starting at 7:00 AM. The monthly luncheons are
held on the first Thursday of each month at the Sonora Elks’ Lodge.
