MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

Meeting Date: June 2, 2008                                    Place: Papa’s New Roost

 

Big Sir Don Denhard opened the meeting at 8:00 AM.  The minutes of the April 28, 2008 BEC meeting were approved as electronically submitted to each member of the BEC (Nissen/Spierling).

                                               

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Treasurer Rich Brandau reported a beginning balance of $4439.00 and an ending balance of $4262.68 for the month of May. The major expenditures were: printing and supplies- $139.22; postage - $123.00; guest expenses - $12.00; and other - $20.00, for a total of $294.22. The Treasurer’s Report was approved (Nissen/Bamford).

                       

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported that 21 Sirs had called that they would not be attending Thursday’s luncheon. Assistant Attendance Chairman Bill Bamford reported that, to date, 8 guests will be attending. Sir Spierling reported that Sir Leroy Bushart and Sir Hank Hobson are not in compliance with SIR attendance rules. Sir Spierling will contact these Sirs regarding their attendance records.

 

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership Chairman Ralph Legg reported that applicant E. Diliberto has withdrawn his name from the waiting list. The membership now stands at 150 active, 4 inactive and 19 on hold.  Sir Richard Feaster reported that Sir Gene Momyer has moved from the area and may not remain a member of our Branch. Sir Feaster will confirm this.

 

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

LUNCHEON: Sir Henry Beltran reported that all arrangements were in place for our Thursday meeting. He is planning on 120 set ups plus the head table. 

 

PROGRAM: Little Sir Ed Nissen reported that Tamara Wilder will talk about PAWS (Performing Animal Welfare Society). Next month’s program will be presented by Beverly Grabel who will discuss PG&E’s Energy Efficiency Programs.

 

COMPUTER USER’S GROUP: Sir Dick Chimenti requested approval for a meeting on June 26, at the China House Café in Twain Harte to discuss methods of computer cleanup. Approved (Feaster/Bamford).

 

WEB PAGE: Sir Dick Chimenti reported that the Web Page is up to date.

 

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP: No Report.  

 

GOLF: No Report

 

BULLETIN:  The deadline for our next bulletin is June 9. Sir Dennis Honeychurch made a proposal, seconded by Sir Henry Beltran, that the Bulletin be transmitted electronically to those Sirs who would be willing to receive it in that manor, to save the cost of printing and postage. Discussion ensued. Details would have to be worked out. The proposal was approved.

 

PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that he had submitted the information but he could not confirm whether the luncheon meeting date was published in either the Union Democrat or the Sierra Mountain Times.

 

TRAVEL: No Report.

 

RV: No Report.

                 

THEATER: Sir Dennis Honeychurch reported that 67 Sirs/guests have signed on to attend the play Alter Boyz at the East Sonora Repertory Theater on July 30, 2008. A total of 75 tickets have been reserved. Sir Bill Bamford is checking out the East Sonora Conference Center as the place for dinner following the play. Sir Bamford will confirm this at Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting.

 

MOVIE: No Report

 

FELLOWSHIP:  No Report    

 

HIKING: Sir Jerry Jensen requested, via email, that a hike at either Calaveras Big Trees State Park or to Sword Lake near Clark’s Fork in Tuolumne County, on June 18, 2008. Approved (Feaster/Honeychurch). Last month’s raft trip was reported to have been a great success. 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 None.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 The subject of returning to the Twain Harte Golf Clubhouse for our luncheon meetings was opened in light of the change in management for the restaurant operations. Sir Dick Feaster moved, seconded by Little Sir Ed Nissen, that the Branch open discussions with the Clubhouse Management to have our luncheon meetings at the Clubhouse. The motion was approved. Big Sir Don Denhard appointed Sirs Beltran, Feaster, Nelson, and Vacca to a committee to be chaired by Big Sir Denhard, to meet with and negotiate the terms for returning to the Twain Harte Golf Clubhouse for the Branch luncheon meetings.

 

Big Sir Denhard reported that Sir Feaster, Chairman of the nominating committee, has a slate of Sirs, each of whom has stated his willingness to serve if elected, to be nominated for the Branch Officers and Directors positions for the year 2009. This slate of Sirs will be published in the June Bulletin and put in nomination at the July 3rd Luncheon Meeting.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 AM.

 

The next BEC meeting will be at Papa’s New Roost on June 30, 2008 at 8:00 AM, preceded by breakfast starting at 7:00 AM.
