MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

 

          Meeting Date: February 01, 2010                                                  Place: Papa's New Roost

 

Big Sir Earl Nelson opened the meeting at 8:00 AM and called for self introductions. Secretary Dan Mohn reported that a quorum was present (see attached attendance report). The minutes of the January 04, 2010 Branch Executive Committee meeting were approved as electronically transmitted to each Officer and Director. (Porter/Vaca). 

 

TREASURER'S REPORT:

Treasurer Dennis Honeychurch reported a beginning balance of $6766.02 and an ending balance of $6132.76 for the month of January. The main expenses for the month were printing, supplies - $64.16; Officers’ Expenses – 69.56; Guest Expenses - $10.00; State Quarterly Assessment - $147; Answering Service - $8; and, $47.07 – Other Expenses. The Treasurer’s Report was approved (Nissen/Porter). Treasurer Honeychurch informed the BEC that the Audit Report had been completed by Sir Gary Bogolea. Secretary Dan Mohn will transmit the Report to Area 27 Governor Norm Whitsed.

Treasurer Honeychurch reported that all Branch SIR Members had voluntarily contributed $20 to offset operating expenses for 2010.

 

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance Chairman Bill Anning reported that 7 Sirs have called and 8 had given prior notice that they would not be attending the luncheon meeting. Assistant Attendance Chairman Harvey Uhl was not in attendance, so, no report on guest attendance was given. 

 

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership Chairman Larry Bertuccelli reported that he had received two new applications for membership: Art Bartee sponsored by Sir Larry Bertuccelli; and, Bruce McCulloch sponsored by Sir John Schwartz, and requested approval for these applications. Approved (Nissen/Escallier). The membership stands at 150 active and 5 inactive.                        

 

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

LUNCHEON: Sir Jim McCracken reported that all is set for Thursday’s luncheon. Sir McCracken will request a setup for 130 plus the head table.

 

PROGRAM: Little Sir Henry Beltran reported that Thursday’s Luncheon Program will be a discussion of the IRS Tax Code changes for 2010 by Patricia Hohne, CPA, from the accounting firm of Hohne & Hoyt CPA’s, Inc.

 

COMPUTER USERS GROUP: Sir Dick Chimenti requested approval for a meeting to be held at the China House, in Twain Harte on February 18th starting with a buffet at 5:30 PM. Approved (Nissen/Porter).  

 

WEB PAGE: Sir Dick Chimenti reported that the Web Page is up to date.

 

GOLF: No Report

 

BULLETIN: Sir Stu Heller requested that all items for the March bulletin be submitted to him by Monday, February 8th.   

 

PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that the Sierra Mountain Times and reasonably thinks that the Sonora Union Democrat has published a notice of Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting.  

 

TRAVEL:  Big Sir Earl Nelson, Travel Chairman, reported that the September 2010 trip to Eastern Canada is sold out. Big Sir Nelson has met with the Travel Chairmen of Sonora SIR Branch 136 and Sierra SIR Branch 77 to discuss combining the travel activities into a travel single group called the SIR Mother Lode Travel Group and requested approval to proceed with this plan. (Approved Escallier/Beltran). The advantages of combining the travel programs of three branches will be discussed at Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting by Sir Wil Reich, Travel Chairman, Branch 136.

 

RV: Sir Jim Nolan reported that all is ready for the first outing of 2010 in April to Benbow Valley RV Resort with Sir Mike Eachus as Wagon Master, but the RV Club is short of Wagon Masters for some of the later outings.

 

THEATER: Sir Rich Brandau reported that the first play of the season will be Guys and Dolls on March 17th, at the East Sonora Repertory Theater, with dinner to follow at Banny’s Mountain Springs. Fifty Sirs and Guests have signed up, to date, for the play and 30 for dinner to follow. The play for April will be Dial M for Murder at the Fallon House in Columbia.

 

HIKING GROUP: Sir Jerry Jensen by email to Big Sir Earl Nelson, requested approval for a Snow Shoe hike at Dodge Ridge on February 12. Approved (Vaca/Beltran).

 

MOVIE: Sir Ray Pfoutz requested approval for a “Movie and Dinner” on a date to be determined at the East Sonora Regal Entertainment Theater.  Approved (Nissen/Beltran).

 

FELLOWSHIP: Sir Bill Bamford reported that he had no Sir sickness or health problems to report.

 

HISTORIAN: Sir Jim Schneider reported that he is in the process of reviewing and updating the Branch History records and photos and will bring the albums to selected Branch functions for viewing. The historic photos will also be posted on the Branch Web Site. 

 

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 Christmas Party: Big Sir Earl Nelson requested that the Officers, Directors and Committee members be on the lookout for potential entertainment for the 2010 Christmas Party.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Big Sir Earl Nelson announced that he had appointed PBS Ed Nissen to Chair the Nominating Committee. Two other committee members will be appointed soon.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 AM.

 

The next Executive Committee Meeting will be 8:00 AM, Monday, March 1, 2010, at Papa’s New Roost with breakfast starting at 7:00 AM. The monthly luncheons are held on the first Thursday of each month at the Sonora Elks’ Lodge with the exception of August and December.
