MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Meeting date: February 27th 2006 Place: Papa’s New Roost
Big SIR Dick Feaster opened the meeting at 8.02 A.M. Temporary acting secretary Mike Eachus reported that a quorum was present ( see attached attendance report). Big SIR Dick Feaster introduced Area Governor Al Limon to the group who visited the executive committee for the second month in a row, and the group introduced themselves to SIR Limon. The January 30th 2006 Minutes were approved as presented. (Denhard/Piercey)
TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Earl Nelson reported a beginning cash balance of $4812.76 and an ending balance of $4403.81. Major expenses for the month were for printing supplies, postage and under item 206 Other (sound equipment)a total of $631.82.Treasurer Nelson reported that 96% of the membership have made their $20 donation for the year. ATTENDANCE: Attendance Chairman Herb Spierling reported that 23 SIRs have called that they would not be attending Thursday’s meeting.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership Chairman Lee Piercey reported no resignation this past month, also Sir Norm Allen requested to move to inactive status for health reasons. SIR Piercey reported new member applications for Ted Scruggs, Ralph Puhalovich and transfer Jim Campana. Duane Melott will be inducted at Thursday’s Luncheon Meeting.
Approved ( Johnson?Sweeney).Current membership, 150 active, 5 inactive, and 5 on hold.
STANDING COMMITTEE’S REPORTS:
LUNCHEON: SIR Don Wooldridge reported that all is set for Thursday Luncheon, he’s made arrangement for 100 attendees, questions were raised if that was enough, but Sir Wooldridge stated that we do have some Leigh way.
PROGRAM: Little SIR Roy Sweeney reported that after great publicity the program scheduled for February’s Luncheon fell through because of illness, he was able to have April’s program cover for February, the program will be presented by Ron Good, Executive Director for Restore Hetch Hetchy. SIR Sweeney requested a extra table be set up for video equipment.
HIKING: SIR Jerry Jensen reported that 8 members participated in February 15th Snowshoe hike at Dodge Ridge. SIR Sweeney took pictures, some of which Big SIR Feaster suggested we submit to the State SIR and news papers. SIR Jensen requested approval for a hike to the Red Hills area Tuesday March 21.2006, approved, ( Holton/Wright)
COMPUTER USERS GROUP: SIR Rich Froisness requested approval for a users meeting March 23rd 2006 at the China House in Twain Harte. Subject; how to burn CD’s and DVD’s etc. Approved (Johnson/Denhard)
WEB PAGE: SIR Denhart reported the web page up to date, he will be using HTML to accommodate Mac users.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: SIR Ray Pfoutz hosted a users meeting at his house were fourteen members participated. No plans for the next meeting.
GOLF: First tournament in April, date, time and location to be announced.
BULLETIN: SIR Ed Nissen double page bulletin was well receipt by the members, and in their opinions the extra $ are worth it.
PUBLICITY: Sir Gil Wesson reported that both The Union Democrat and the Sierra Mountain Times published a notice of the March luncheon meeting.
RV: First outing will be to Orange Grove RV park east of Bakersfield April 23rd to 28th
Sir"s Meckler and Ray are your trail bosses.
THEATER GROUP: SIR Roy Smith Chairman, the title of the show is Blithe Spirit, and will be at SRT March 22nd 2006, followed or preceded by dinner at Birdie’s. SIR Spierling complained about the food service, this being brought about by the different entrée’s preparation time, one of the suggestions to resolve this dilemma would be to have all the Salmon eaters to sit at the same table, maybe that will work?
FELLOWSHIP: No report, if anyone has information regarding any members condition, health or otherwise, let SIR Nunes know.
FISHING GROUP: SIR Spierling has invited the Sonora Chairman to give us a five minute explanation at the March luncheon.
TRAVEL: SIR Mike Eachus reported that he is working with Sonora SIR Chairman Bill Dunlavy on SIR’s day at the San Fransico Giants baseball park. We have again reserved two buses to leave from Wal-mart parking lot at 7.30 A.M. June 21st 2006. We have two choices for ballpark seating, upper level $50.00 per person, lower field level seating $65.00 per person, which includes bus fare for both.

NEW BUSSINESS: SIR Huneychurch will be our new song master, don’t know what happened to SIR Jerry Lewis, did his bucket have a hole in it? Anyway, SIR"s Huneychurch and I think Bill Bamford are responsible for keeping our sound system. Discussion ensued whether it would be advantages to store the sound system and club paraphernalia in a Twain Harte GC locker. No decision was made pending further research.
SIR Sweeney displayed our 18 new table numbers, produced by SIR Nunes
Big SIR Feaster displayed a new SIR decal, to check for interest in purchasing some for resale to the membership, No decision, pending further research.
Big SIR Feaster announced that because of Memorial day the Executive Committee meeting will be May 30th 2006.
OLD BUSSINESS: Little SIR Sweeny reported on the progress of the Propane Coop.
We have currently 96 signups, and SIR Sweeney has mailed bid proposals to 6 area Distributors, and requested a return answer within the next 30 days. Our members are currently paying a wide range of prize per gallon, ($1.85 to $2.42)
Hopefully we will be able to achieve a low fixed prize for the Coop .
The meeting was adjourned at 9.05 A.M.
The next Executive Committee meeting will be at 8.00 A.M. Monday, April 3, 2006, at Papa’s New Roost.
